Individual therapy in Roseville or online in Minnesota

It’s not just you

When the world feels like a competitive minefield the compulsion to hide or ignore the inner darkness is strong. It’s all too easy to become stuck in patterns of behavior we don’t even like… Patterns of coping that damage our quality of life, injure our relationships, and cause intense feelings of shame.

This is part of why men often suffer in silence. So many men have been brought up being told…

  • “Emotions make you weak.”
  • “Be strong. You don’t need anybody.”
  • “Forget about it and move on.”
  • “Don’t be vulnerable.”
  • “Don’t ask for help.”
  • “Hide what’s unacceptable.”

The truth is…

One of the most courageous, loving things a person can do is ask for help.

Seeking help doesn’t mean you failed. It means you refused to fail. It means you’re not giving up.

You might be the most independent, self-sufficient man in the world… but you still need healthy relationships.

Humans are relational creatures, and we are designed for connection. Healthy, meaningful connections with others are essential to masculine well-being.

We cannot heal or solve a problem by ignoring it.

Real emotional pain, if left unattended, turns into problematic symptoms. To ‘stop’ the symptoms, we need to get to the root cause and explore the emotional needs behind the coping patterns.

Men are human and human beings have emotions.

Learning to understand and manage your emotions, even the complex ones, is part of the human experience.

Being vulnerable isn’t always fun and it’s definitely not always easy. But the only way out is through.

Chances are, you’ve already tried coping and ‘just dealing with it’ by yourself. Has it worked? What would happen if you tried opening up and dealing with what’s been festering with a compassionate, qualified therapist who actually ‘gets it’ and is trained to help you conquer it?

Please don’t suffer in silence any longer.

Leave no stone unturned. Give truth the opportunity to set you free.

What is individual therapy?

Individual therapy (also called counseling and psychotherapy) is professional, one-on-one, mental health support in a confidential environment that caters to your unique needs and circumstances. Therapists undergo extensive education, training, credentials, and licensure in order to provide you with a safe space to reconnect with what matters most and make decisions that align with the life you want.

The goal of therapy isn’t one-size fits all, but our primary focus is to help you build emotional awareness, resilience, and practical coping skills while navigating life pressures and relational expectations. We’re here to help you gain clarity around your psychological reality and emotional needs. One of the biggest benefits of individual therapy is having a completely private environment where you can speak honestly, think clearly, and walk away with practical solutions to real-life concerns.

How individual therapy works

Rest assured, we’re not here to judge or criticize you. We’re here to help you overcome what’s holding you back, and we do that by focusing on your potential and growth.

Therapy is not about being told what to do or how to feel, and we don’t ‘give advice.’ It’s your life, and you remain in the driver’s seat the whole time. Therapy works by helping you explore the unconscious origins of patterns in your life. We’ll help you examine the blueprint of your past, uncover the real ‘why’ behind the hurt or the compulsion, and neutralize the inner tension that’s running the show behind the scenes.

Over time and with consistent effort, we’ll build a grounded therapeutic relationship – one you can lean on as you transform the way you experience life and connect with others.

What to expect in a
therapy session

We offer in-person counseling at our Roseville office and virtual therapy sessions to Minnesota residents. An individual therapy session is 55-minutes long. Depending on your circumstances, we may meet once a week, twice a week, or biweekly.

Every client’s timeline is different. Some clients just want a few sessions to work through an issue; others maintain ongoing care with us for the duration of the season of life they’re in. It all depends. But on average, most clients come consistently for 8-12 sessions before reducing to a monthly or quarterly ‘check-in’ schedule to ensure ongoing support.

There is no need to prepare or ‘perform’ during your session. Simply show up. Come as you are with an open mind, and we’ll process whatever you’re experiencing together in a grounded way. Our top priority is to collaborate with you to create a space where you feel safe to be honest and supported as you grow.

Is therapy worth it?

The honest answer is, sometimes. Why sometimes?

There is significant nuance within the mental health industry and many different styles, approaches, and modalities. To ensure you have a positive, legitimately helpful experience, it’s paramount that you find a provider who, first of all gets it and second of all is qualified and experienced enough to help you successfully navigate it.

Research consistently shows that therapy accomplishes its best work when there’s a solid, trusting relationship between you and your therapist. So please… take your time, research, and feel free to contact us and ask questions. We want to be your last stop on your road to recovery and freedom, so please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’ll answer your questions and make the intake process as easy as we can.

Because when you do find the right therapist, therapy can be incredibly helpful, deeply rewarding, and well worth the time and effort. The truth is depression, anxiety, PTSD, cPTSD, flashbacks, anger, compulsive behaviors, addictions… all these conditions are all highly treatable. We have the experience and skills necessary to help you heal.
